The Yarn Winder was created to be a safe, creative space for all people to come to knit, crochet, spin, and foster friendships and community. Our most important goal is for anyone who walks through our doors to feel at home and welcomed!
Of course we offer a variety of yarns at all price points, in all kinds of fibers and colors. We also offer classes and make-a-longs in knit, crochet, and spinning! But in addition to that, we offer many locally crafted goods from hand dyed yarns, to jewelry, to project bags, to greeting cards and pens! We want to support other local makers in our community as much as possible- while offering Winder some handmade products!
The owner of The Yarn Winder. I’m a daughter of two fabulous parents (you’ll probably get to know them at some point if you haven’t already), a mother to a terrific 21 year old daughter, and a wife to my soul mate. We have a beautiful Great Pyrenees named Sage who is the love of my life. I was an elementary school teacher for 20 years, but after Covid hit, I decided to “retire”, and figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up! I’ve been a knitter for 14 years, and recently began dyeing my own yarn as well. The opportunity arose to open a yarn shop in Winder, and here we are! I’d love to get to know you, knit with you, chat with you, and better our community with you!
The Yarn Winder is a place for the fiber arts community to come together and share our passions with each other and our local community.
We aim to be a light in our little corner of the world, and be as helpful and caring as possible!
Fiber artists have unique talents that can lead to community outreach - knitting and crocheting as service projects are essential to our shop!
